How a Pendulum Concrete Poker Works

This unit operates on a pendulum vibration principle. Rather than a direct eccentric drive, the motor drives a weighted pendulum inside the poker head, which swings back and forth at high frequency to generate powerful vibration. When inserted into freshly poured concrete, these rapid oscillations cause the mix to temporarily liquefy around the head — allowing air bubbles to rise and escape, aggregate to settle evenly, and the concrete to flow tightly around reinforcement bars. The pendulum mechanism delivers consistent, efficient vibration with reduced mechanical wear compared to traditional eccentric-shaft designs. For best results, insert the poker vertically at regular intervals of around 450–500mm and withdraw slowly to avoid leaving voids.
